Does Excessive Iron Cause Frequent Bowel Movements?

My 89 year old mother in law came for a visit and meds changed. She has pernicious anemia and takes B 12, now she also is taking 965mg of iron. I have noticed that she needs to go to the bathroom about 20 minutes after eating. Is this too much iron?
