Does Having A Cortisone Shot Help Treat Spasm In Vertebral Neck Muscles?

What is the cure for my husband's spasm of the para vertebral neck muscles? It's quite disturbing now as it's paining more often? He tried taking prescribed medicines and physio therapy for few months but still in pain. Will a cortisone shot relieve him? Any vitamin supplements you can recommend?
