Does Heterogeneous Mass Affect The Functioning Of Thyroid Gland?

I have a 3.9 cm heterogeneous hyper intense mass on or near my thyroid on the right side. This was picked up on a MRI for my neck on 2/11/15. Visit with ortho was in 3/9/15 and he told me to see my primary for mass. Had ultrasound today and tsh only. No other blood tests were done except for tsh, no t3, t4, etc, no results on ultrasound. Tsh was 1.29. In the last in 2000 it was .9 and in 2007 it was 2.09. My Sister gas Hashimotos also and her tsh has always been normal . Could I still have a thyroid that us not working properly? What questions should I ask my internist at my appt next week? Thank you!
