Does Infant's Formula Affect The Abdominal Lining?

what does formula do to a babys stomach lining? I have been told that it can change the acidity making the baby more prone to colds. However, I was not sure. I know breast milk has antibodies that protect the baby from colds and such which is why breastfed babies have less colds.
