Does Marijuana Induce The Hair Growth?

Are there any studies where marijuana ash has been used as a remedy for hair regrowth on the head and face, and if so what were the results drawn from these testings? I ask the question because I live in California and have a friend who used ash from Marijuana and it has shown to regrow his hair thicker than with using shampoos. Thank You.
