Does Ovarian Cyst Need Surgery?

my mother is 52 yrs of age. she has blood pressure and sugar problem. recently she has been experiencing pain in her abdomen. doctors say its a cyst in the ovary...whats the solution.... will medicines do or she needs to go in for some operation...she has had her uterus removed around 4 yrs back.
