Does Pilomatrixoma Cause Hair Loss?

My son had a small circular bald patch on his scalp with a hard, very tender, lump in the middle. A biopsy was done and the result has been confirmed as a benign pilomatricoma. However, the doctor is unable to explain the hair loss. Is hair loss associated with pilomatricona on the scalp?
