Does Recurred Rupture In Eardrum Need Re Surgery?

My 10 year old son had tubes placed in his ears when he was an infant. They never fell out on their own so when the ENT doctor took them out, it left holes in his eardrums that required two surgeries to patch them successfully (The holes were quite large). After he healed from the surgery he has not had any problems with his ears until recently. He developed an ear infection the other day and the doctors put him on an antibiotic. Then, his ear started draining bloody discharge so I called the doctor and they said that it had probably ruptured and they called him in antibiotic ear drops to go along with his oral one. My question is, since he had the surgery to patch the holes in his eardrums, if it ruptured, will it require surgery to patch it again? Thank you!
