Does Severe Abdominal Pains Indicate Kidney Infection?

Recently I was admitted to hospital (2 days ago) with symptoms much like those of appendicits, however the pain i was experiencing soon subsided. When my urine and blood tests came back it turned out I had a UTI and I was discharged. I'm on a course of antibiotics but am still experiencing some pain on the right side of my body. Are symptoms such as these associated with UTI or kidney infection even when taking antibiotics?
