Does Severe Headache Indicate Arteritis?

I have had a knife stabbing pain in my forehead for over a week. It is sensitive to the touch. It is on my middle right side. It never goes away. I never get headaches. I first thought it might be sinus. I have polyps etc. Then I thought the pain felt like shingles, which I have had twice before. I went to the clinic and they put me on an famciclovir. I had an appointment with an ENT on Saturday. He thinks it could be related to my sinuses. He put me on Zpack for a week off one week and on the next week and then scheduled a CT scan and is recommending surgery. The pain is nearnmy hairline and goes back to top of right head. I am now wondering if it could be arteritis. Any suggestions.
