Does Severe Throat Pain Need Medical Attention?

i have a cold, but all of a sudden after my bath my throat hurts sooo much, like nothing ive ever feot before. Everytime i swallow or breath in the slightest its painfull? Do i need to go hospital as i have tried cough medcine, but it hasnt worked and says on the byottle if it gets worse consuly a doc. Docs r close now??
