Does Sleeplessness Indicate Depression?

iam 50 years old my wife has had a miner stroke and now she is home but seems to be taking a big toll on me sleep does not come easy unless i get knocked out with sleep meds and the brain is in constant over drive i don,t have any thoughs of killing my self allready see a nuro doctor on regular basis is this a form of depression and don,t really have any drive to get things done the list in my head keeps getting longer and longer and won,t stop.
