Does Taking Alendronic Acid Cause Pain In Rib And Back?

I am a kidney transplant patient for 30 years. 5 months ago my consultant put me on Alendronic acid 70 mg one a week to strengthen bones. Over 3 months period I developed back and ribs pain. On my routine hospital visit the consultant stopped Alendronic Acid. It is nearly 6 weeks now. I am still have back and ribs pain. There appears to be no end in sight. Have to keep taking Zapain just to keep going. Can you suggest a solution?
