Does Taking Beta Carotene Save Skin From Tanning And Freckles?

Hello! Im 18 years old, and in every summer more and more freckles appear. I didin't found any information about beta carotene for humans with freckles. I know that beta carotene saves skin from ultraviolet rays. . So, if i start use tablets with beta carotene, in the summer i will have darker tan, or only more freckles? thanks
