Does Taking Sulfamethoxazole Give Fast Relief For UTI?

Hello, my doctor prescribed me an anti biotic for my my urinary tract infection. The medicine is called sulfamethoxazole-tmp ds. I want to find out how long does it take for an anti-biotic to effect before I can feel the results. I've been taking it already for 5 days and I'm still getting pain when I urinate!
