Does Taking Zonisamide Lead To Gasping Of Air?

My son is 10 months today. He has craniosynostosis, and spratic quadriplegic cerebral palsy. He is taking new medicine called zonisamide. His seizures has stopped but he gasps for air all the time....is this the medicine.? Should I push towards surgery so he doesn t have problems later on.? My neurologist is too busy to call or give me a straight answer on anything. I really need some answers, this is my best friend and my first born.
