Does The Duration Of Chemo Indicate The Intensity Of Cancer In Body?

I have a dear friend who is will start chemo this Friday, 2/20. She want talk about it but she is facing 18 weeks of chemo and it to do with her female organs and colon. 18 weeks seems so long....the question is why 18 week....does the weeks mean how bad she has it
