Dr. Rynne, Thank You For Being Available To Add Some

Dr. Rynne,
Thank you for being available to add some more thinking to my scenario. I am a generally very healthy 53 year old woman. I am sick a few times a year with strep throat (kindergarten teacher, lots of germs). I am otherwise very healthy. 5"4 about 114 lbs.
Needless to say, recently, I went in to the MD for what I thought was strep. Culture came back negative. I have persisting fever and fatigue. My MD treated me with amoxicillin. When the culture was negative, I saw her again for change in meds (change to z pack) and CBC/mono test. Normal cvc, negative mono. My fever persists. Throat pain is improving.
I am going back to see her again this afternoon. Could you add your thinking to next steps for any tests that I ought to take? In the back of my mind I do fear lymphoma, as my father was afflicted in a similar way when he was first made aware of the disease some 12 years ago (it was, unfortunately, fatal for him).

Thanks much
