Dr. Rynne, Within The Last Few Hours My 17 Year

Dr. Rynne, Within the last few hours my 17 year old son has a sudden onset of intense pain in the lower back(right side). He is now vomiting, but didn't have an upset stomach. So, I think the amount of pain is making him sick. Is this an obvious symptom of some condition? Thank you, Allison
