PLEASE EXPLAIN MRI FINDINGS (patient age 72, type 2 diabetes with A1C maintained around 6 with insulin and diet) Please provide prognosis and recommendations to mitigate symptoms of short term memory loss. MRI REPORT: CEREBRUM: Mild diffuse cortical atrophy. Moderate patchy periventricular and subcortical T2/FLAIR hyperintense foci are present, likely related to microangiopathic change. There is no evidence of mass, mass-effect, midline shift, or intraparenchymal hemorrhage. There are no areas of restricted diffusion to suggest acute infarction. CEREBELLUM: No mass or signal abnormality. BRAINSTEM: Within normal limits SELLA: The sella is partially empty. No parasellar mass. VENTRICLES/CISTERNS: No hydrocephalus or cisternal effacement. EXTRA-AXIAL SPACE: No mass, collection, or hemorrhage. IAC/CP ANGLES: No cerebellopontine angle mass. IACs not well evaluated on this exam. PARANASAL SINUSES: Mild bilateral ethmoid mucosal thickening. No fluid level. MASTOID AIR CELLS: Clear. FLOW-VOIDS: Maintained. IMPRESSION: Mild atrophy. Moderate microangiopathic change. No intracranial mass, hydrocephalus, or acute infarct. Thank you
