Eyes Have Been Irritated For About Two Weeks Now. I

Eyes have been irritated for about two weeks now. I am a type two diabetic. Eye lids are red and irritated,eyes seem dry and very irritated. Went to eye doctor and he said that I wasn't closing my eyes all the way when I sleep. Gave me some eye drops for day use and some eye salve for nights. Doesn't seem to be working very good
