Female Age 52, 102 Degree Fever And Very Severe Chills

Female age 52, 102 degree fever and very severe chills (lips turning blue), on and off, for 2-3
days. No appetite. No other symptoms - no sore throat, cough, runny nose, congestion, diarrhea, nausea, etc. - nothing but the fever and chills. What could cause this??? (Now resolved, but curious about what could have caused this.)
