For several months, I have had large red blotches on my face. They started below my left eye and gradually continued down the left side of my face. The dermatologist said that I had dialated capillaries and said that laser treatment was the best choice, but that insurance didn't pay for it. He said I could get makeup that would cover the redness. I tried that, but it didn't really work. Then, the same progression of large red blotches began on the right side of my face, again starting on my cheek. They have now gone down on both sides to either side of my chin. Yesterday, the dermatologist said I must have contact dermatitis and told me to use 1% Hydrocortisone cream and gave me a cleanser and moisturizer which I have used twice and am preparing to use tonight. The red blotches actually look more red, and I am concerned because I am to go to Canada on Saturday for 10 days and don't want to continue a regimen that may be making things worse. Should I continue the 1 % Hydrocortisone cream? What else could you suggest for me?
