For Several Years I've Tender Spots On My Scalp (head?)

For several years I've tender spots on my scalp (head?) that come and go. I thought it might be due to the dye for my hair, so I stopped coloring my hair 2 years ago, still have these tender spots. Only hurt when I touch the areas. What could this be? Thank you.
