Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the past 11 months I have had a rash. Primarily on the back on both thighs and back. There is a slight irritation to the hands and fingers at times. I have visited an allergist for "patch testing" and two separate dermatologist with two biopsies and numerous blood testing. Negative results for latex and gluten have been obtained by blood test. Biopsy results have not shown any significant results. Diets to eliminate and pinpoint food allergies have yielded a potential allergy to dairy. However, total elimination of dairy does not completely remove the symptoms. There are no GI symptoms regardless of diet changes. At this specific time the irritation is on the back, upper chest and neck areas. The sensation in these areas is a sharp itching sensation. Scratching or rubbing these areas produces a slight raised and redness and ultimately and increase in the sharp discomfort. At this time, along with a dairy free diet, I have initiated a lavender spray to the neck and upper chest area. This seems to diminish the sensation for a time. My question at this time is do you feel a consultation with a neurologist would be beneficial in light of the fact that previous consultations have yielded no specific results? Your time and consideration are appreciated.
