For The Past 5 Years A Few Times A Year

For the past 5 years a few times a year I have experienced thigh and calve pain off and on throughout the day which last for about 1 week, recently having this pain which seems to be radiating into my lower buttocks and back at the same time. The pain is very intense. My doctor said its probably a virus but I don't think I could have the same virus three to four times a year. Please give me your opinion. Thank you
