For The Past 6 Months Or So, I Have Been

For the past 6 months or so, I have been able to feel my heart pounding in my neck and chest when trying to go to sleep. It's quite strong and will keep me awake for hours. I thought it was due to peri-menopause and being too warm at night. Now that it's winter, it's pretty cold and I still experience the issue. I have noticed it during the day sometimes as well. It doesn't seem to be fast, just pounding. I make sure not to eat anything at least 4 hours before I go to sleep plus I exercise. Is this something I should worry about?
