For The Past Ten Years Or So... I Have Been

For the past ten years or so... I have been having fleeting episodes of the skin on my arms and legs feeling like they are on fire... burning and feel very painful. Clothes, sheets... anything touching my extremities make the pain even worse. These episodes have progressed in frequency and in the intensity level of pain. What could be the problem?
