For Years Now My Son Has Coughed Every Single Time

For years now my son has coughed every single time he eats. It started when he started eating hard food. He is 4 now and someone asked me if I had him checked out. I didn't think it was a problem until now. It hasn't stopped at all. It is every single time. Should I have him checked for an esophageal issue?
