Forty Eight Hours Ago I Accidentally Stabbed My Right Hand

Forty eight hours ago I accidentally stabbed my right hand with a long thin knife while attempting to remove a hard plastic wrapping from a container of dates. I felt throbbing pain and it bled slightly. I immediately felt pain only when lifting items of five or ten pounds or more in the area of the wound, which is between my thumb and pointer finger. There is blueness near the area and slight swelling. My primary care doctor did two finger tests which did not aggravate the pain and said I was fine, just a bruise. However, when picking up any object of ten pounds or more, I have shooting pain in the area of the injury.
