Four Days Ago, I Started Having Massive Nosebleeds. I Have

Four days ago, I started having massive nosebleeds. I have never had a nosebleed before and was diagnosed as having high blood pressure last year so I attributed the nosebleeds to my extremely high blood pressure. I recently visited an ENT specialist and was told the high blood pressure may have caused the vessels in my nose to burst. He put silver nitrate on the affected area and said it should help. Now the nosebleeds have stopped but I have a blood filled draining in the back of my throat. Is that common or should I seek a second opinion?
