Fri., Approx 3 P.m., Husband Had Extreme Itching On His

Fri., approx 3 p.m., husband had extreme itching on his thumb while performing yardwork near a woods edge. He immediately washed his hand with soap/water. The thumb became swollen. With careful inspection, we saw no entry marks (insect, stinger, snake). This a.m. when he awoke the swelling also involved the top portion of the entire hand, and we then noted a "mark" where the itching had initially commenced. This is a mark, small, dark, with no skin entry. He went to a CVS Minute Clinic this a.m., they prescribed cephalexin 500 mg q.6h. x10 days, Bactroban ointment, and also recommended OTC Claritin/Zyrtec, of which he took his first dose at 12 noon. He has no fever, no chills, no diarrhea, no nausea, no sweats. The area affected is however warm to touch. Should this be something we seek ER attention for? As of this writing, he is nearly 27 hours post affliction.
