Good afternoon,

My name is Wojciech. Im 24 years old. I'm student from Poland in Warsaw. For almost one year I expierence many strange mainly visual symptoms like a visual static (snow), strong afterimages/trails (palinopsia), floaters, flashes of light, starburst and halos effects around light sources, closed eye visual. I have also non-visual symptoms like eyes pain, ringing in ears and muscle twitching. Unfortunately everything is constantly worsening.

It's very hard to explain how I feel. My symptoms worsen day by day. When I close my eyes I can see world for few second - palinopsia , afterimages and trails are very, very bad. I lose control of myself. I don't count floaters now - there are already so many. I began to see them and blue field entoptic phenemon of surfaces on which earlier have not seen them. For several months, there are muscle twitching. It's very hard me to sleep because I have very bad closed eye visuals. It's difficult in reading and I don't know how I pass my school exams.

I have many neurological, also opthomological exams- MRI, MRA, EEG, blood exams, everything is ok. Doctors in Poland never heard about these symptoms and they know how to help me. Im afraid because this is progressive and im worried about a future and my life - trails started to be noticeable even during in the day.

I have been always healthy, never had migraine, never took hallucinogenic drug, never had anxiety or depressed so i don't know whats happened. I'm only 24. I planned to finish college, start a family and get a good job. At this point I don't see a positive future for me. It's ruining my professional and social life. I stopped seeing friends, rarely leave the home. It may sound desperate but it looks actually.

My symptoms are identical to syndrome called Visual Snow. This is a transitory or persisting visual symptom where people see snow or television-like static in parts or the whole of their visual field. Also, people expierence other symptoms like palinopsia, floaters, flashes of light - like as I mentioned at the top. The study of 2014 described strong evidence from positron emission tomography scans that the disease is associated with hypermetabolism in the right lingual gyrus and left cerebellar anterior lobe of the brain. The main causes are migraine or drug related. Usually this condition does not deteriorate, or deteriorates very slowly. In my case, the cause must be different. Everything is getting worse day by day in unimaginable pace.

I decided to write you because I have no longer any choice. No one can help me. I have always dreamed to help other people and now I need help. Doctors in Poland couldn't offer me additional diagnostics. Do you think that we can look for something else? Expand the diagnosis? I would appreciate you forwarding my email to people/doctors who may have had contact with this subject.

Im trying with Lamotrigine - anticonvulsant - im on 50 mg for 2 weeks yet but I don't see any improvement. My palinopsia is very bad now. I have positive afterimages from everything that I look... My eyes hurt.
I will be grateful for any help.
