Good Evening,my Mother Has Been Diagnosed With Auto Immune Disease

Good evening,my mother has been diagnosed with Auto immune disease and I am wondering if you could answer a few questions and get a better understanding of her condition? I'm not sure if I'm right in saying this but she also suffers with diabetes(type 1) and has also been told she has varices in the gullet are these are these conditions a side effect of the auto immune disease?
