Greetings! I Had Routine Blood Work Done As A Follow

Greetings! I had routine blood work done as a follow up with my endocrynologist. I had my thyroid removed 2 years ago and he's been very good about doing routine blood work, etc... well, this last blood work shows "smudge cells" and he's booking an appt with a hemotologist. Sometimes a "little" information is worse than no information, as all I have found in my google search is that smudge cells indicate CLL. Question; is that the general consensus, or are there other reasons for these smudge cells?
p.s. I'm sorry; but, this threw me for a loop and I didn't think to ask for a copy of my blood work results.
