HI My Mother In Law Has Been Diagnosed With Pneumonia

HI my mother in law has been diagnosed with pneumonia and put into the hospital. She is 81. The strange thing is that she did not have any type of cold cough or runny nose. She was fine, woke up with not much energy the next day had a temp and chills vomited once. We are not understanding how pneumonia happens this way.
