Had 18 Ga IV Ran Dry For 2 Hours Post

Had 18 Ga IV ran dry for 2 hours post op. Dark blood in hub. Asked nurse not to flush, so she did exactly that. It was painful. She continued to use it for Vancouver, pain meds etc. On discharge home had 4 inches painful swollen hard vein. 2 days later had left chest pain up under ribs. No shortness of breath. Mostly pain w movement, deep breath. Low probability for PE right?
