Had A Lap Appy Done 5 Days Ago; Appendix Was

Had a lap appy done 5 days ago; appendix was in the retrocecal position and the surgery took about 2 1/2 hours. Have been taking stool softeners prophylactically while taking pain medication. Have had several loose bowel movements but am experiencing some pain or discomfort with them. Is this normal?
