Had An EMG And Diagnosed With Corpal Tunnel And Given

Had an EMG and diagnosed with corpal Tunnel and given brace to wear at night but it has not helped relieve the numbness at all so I end up taking it off at night. Should it be worn during day time too? Would you recommend surgery for relief of this horrible pain. I sometimes want to just cut my hand off. Am 81yrs old.
