Had Car Accident, They Are Suggesting Epidural Injection As I

Had car accident, they are suggesting epidural injection as I have two small prolapsed disk. I am about 20 pounds overweight and feel that does not help either. My biggest worry is the side effects or just numbing the pain with these shots. Is there risk in taking them as this accident type orthopedic doctor is pressuring me to get three shots in this area.
