Have High Cholesterol Due To Genetics. Have Been Taking 20mg

Have high cholesterol due to genetics. Have been taking 20mg atorvastin along with highest dose of fenofibrate. Was advised recently by dr. to eliminate fenofibrate and increase atorvastin to 40mg, because my triglycerides were good (last blood work). I questioned this because I was under the assumption that the fenofibrate was to lower my bad cholesterol. Will have blood work again in Jan. to see if this helped.
Confused, to say the least. I had been on both meds for 10 years.
