Have Pain In Right Hip Joint That Manifests When Leg

Have pain in right hip joint that manifests when leg extends back and swings forward in a normal walk. The moment it is ready to come forward it feels like there is a constriction. If I push through it, it's not terribly painful but it's clear there is something there impeding the freedom of forward motion. X-Ray showed nothing and PCP is thinking of sending me to a sports medicine doc for a second opinion, when taking 2 advil/twice per day for a week did not improve.
