Having Irregular Periods. Is It Normal?

i'm a 17 year old girl and i started my period when i was 13. they have always been irregular, sometimes not comnig for months at a time but for the last month i have had brown discharge every day, sometimes light and sometimes heavy. i'm still a virgin so i can't be pregnant, is this normal
