Having Spells Of Laryngospasm On Top Of A Cold. Have

Having spells of laryngospasm on top of a cold. Have had the spasms before, but not while also trying to combat mucus at the same time. I know staying calm works best, but then have urge to cough while trying to breathe slow. Bad combo! Took very long to come out of last attack, then had another attack about 1 minute after the first. Feel on verge of having another attack several times an hour. Very scared of it happening again, especially while sleeping tonight. Advice?
