My Mom is a type-2 diabetic and has been taking metformin for an extended period of time. Are there any precautions or concerns that we should have after prolong use of this medication or any medication for a chronic health condition like diabetes? Additionally she has experienced significant pains in her side and now her stomach and the battery of tests performed have not identified anything, thank God, but it's evident that her body is trying to tell her/us something and we are trying to be as proactive as humanly possible.
