Hello - Four Years Ago I Was Diagnosed With Hsv2

Hello -
Four years ago I was diagnosed with hsv2 as a result of a rape. I have been taking 500mg of Valtrex daily since the assault. I recently started dating someone with hsv1 and am afraid that I can transfer type 2 to him. Is this possible? Or, is he "safe" since he has been living with type 1 since childhood?
