Hello- My 4 Year Old Son Has Had "growing Pains"

Hello-

My 4 year old son has had "growing pains" since he was about 2-always saying his legs hurt, very restless and never letting me rub or touch them. Now that he is 4, I can rub his legs now but he still cries in pain saying they hurt especially at night and even sometimes now during the day. His knee caps seems large to me, especially on the inside. As he was putting pajamas on today, his knee caps were warm to the touch while the rest of his legs were normal body temperature. He kept complaining of his hand hurting today. As I looked at it, it is now swollen on the top. This may be from something not related to his legs but I am just unsure if I should be worried or let it go. I have brought up the leg issues to his pediatrician but he doesn't seem too worried about it. Are there any other signs or symptoms I should look for if it is something more than just growing pains?

Thank you-
Melissa
