Hello. 11 days ago, I suffered a fractured skull when I was beaten over the head 3 or 4 times with a metal instrument. I was hospitalized for a week. I also suffered a mild concussion. I never lost consciousness or fell down during the incident. I experienced only slightly blurred vision and a very mild headache in the hours afterward. Also, I have been slightly more absent-minded since, as if sort-term memory is partially affected. Cognitively, I have not experienced any other symptoms. After a week of hospitalization (mostly just for observation, I think), I underwent a CT-scan which revealed no neurological damage. However there remains a depression on the surface of my skull, 13,, wide and 2 mm deep. I have been told that, in a short time, this will not be a structural weak point in my skull, so I won't have to worry more than most people about head-injuries.
I returned from hospital 4 days ago, and I have felt extremely tired - I have slept extremely deeply in the last few nights. Also, my bowel-control seems slightly weaker. If I pass wind, then sometimes I find my shorts very slightly soiled. I would not describe this as incontinence so much as just a mild form of diarrhea. I never experienced either the fatigue or the diarrhea during my stay in hospital - they seem like a delayed reaction of some type.
I have already seen you write that diarrhea is not a symptom of concussion, but when I was in the neurological department of the hospital, I saw other patients who were incontinent.
Any explanations or advice which you might have to offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
