Hello Doctor I Recently Went To A Dentist For A

Hello Doctor
I recently went to a dentist for a checkup where i discovered i have leukoplakia in the far end of my cheek near the wisdom tooth on the right side
Its been around 2 weeks since i quit smoking and i have been using nicotine gum to control the withdrawal.
The dentist said its due to cross shaped teeth and the options would be to either removal of the tooth or a temprorary respite as in cleaning of the teeth.

My question is should i get the tooth removed? And do nicotine gums further leukoplakia?
