Hello Doctor, I Was Bit By An Unknown Insect Yesterday

Hello Doctor, I was bit by an unknown insect yesterday afternoon. Pulling weeds in my yard, I wrapped my right hand around the base of a sorrel plant and felt extreme burning on my thumb just below the nail. I have been bit by bees before and never felt this type of pain for as long of a time. Flash forward to this morning, my thumb was swollen and a red spot developed. By noon the spot was purple and growing and as I write this the purple spot is 1/2 squared. The swelling is now to my wrist and the itch is always present. Should I seek help or monitor for other signs.
